Counseling
is the answer,
but to what?
During counseling you get to have
time for your thoughts, liberty to talk and express your feelings, freedom to
cry and shout. But you must be thinking, “I can do this at home, so why go to
some strangers’ office and pay for it?” Well, psychiatrists, psychologists and
therapists are trained to listen, understand and help you find a solution as
well as to work towards that objective achieving a better and happier
lifestyle.
Many situations in our life compel
us to feel powerless, mentally depressed and physically stressed. At times,
these situations can leave us thinking that we have no choice. During these
moments – which is normal in everyone’s life - it is more comfortable to talk
to a stranger than to relatives and friends. Because a person whom you aren´t
acquainted with has an objective point of view, they are able to understand
with a cool mind; with this we therapists are prepared to think outside the box
as well as enclosing a non-disclosure agreement with our clients.
I have met quite a few people who
could benefit from counselling but in today’s world, most of them assimilate
therapy with mental illness. We should be aware of this fallacy, the reality is
that counseling is for any person bearing emotional stress or enduring a rough
moment, as well as, making up one’s mind from all the confusions regarding what
is the best decision to make; as humankind tends to unconsciously complicate
life, later not knowing how to solve it. If not treated it could leave mental
consequences that are triggered in the future or present due to the actions or
thoughts in our past. Any mental or emotional distress is severe enough to
consider therapy.
Self-awareness: helps you
understand yourself, your thoughts and others around you.
Feel better about yourself: you
feel at peace, comfortable and self-confident.
Reduce stress: working hand in hand
to overcome fears, talking about perceptions and concerns.
Identify your goals: learn new
behaviors’ and actions to achieve your goals.
I hope this article has helped the
ones who need counseling and are doubtful about it.
